The Full Life Ahead Foundation is a 501(c)(3) based in Birmingham, Alabama and serving families nationwide. Founded in 2002, Full Life Ahead strives to bridge the gap between NOW and LATER by connecting individuals with disabilities to the resources and supports needed to reach FULL LIFE status. By engaging in communities, advocating for knowledge and opportunity, The Full Life Ahead Foundation helps families navigate the journey from high school to real life living. The Goal? A life lived as an active, contributing member of the community, supported by the necessary resources to create an independent living experience.
What’s the secret to this FULL LIFE concept? H.O.P.E. By helping other people envision a life full of achievement, we are able to identify the path to success. Working together as a team, partnering with other organizations and families, to create a dynamic environment for networking and connection. We believe each and every individual has the potential to live a FULL adult life and together we can celebrate success stories as students reach that graduation milestone and step into the next chapter: A Full Life Ahead.
The Full Life Ahead Foundation was established in 2002. An idea sparked by a conversation between two mothers at the ballpark, our organization has grown into a multi-faceted approach of support – and we are still growing! In 2024 we reached our own milestone – actually, we had several milestone moments! It has been a year of blessing and as we continue to expand our abilities to reach families across Alabama, we acknowledge the invaluable asset in our volunteer family. Our volunteers are top-notch and help to enhance each and every experience by contributing knowledge, encouragement, financial provision, and connections often resulting in lifelong friendships. We wouldn’t be who we are without these volunteers and we are looking forward to meeting those who will join us in 2025.
The unique approach of a family-centered support system means that ALL aspects of living are addressed. A diagnosis often brings challenges reaching beyond just that of the individual. Siblings, work-life, financial burden – just a few aspects affected by those families living in the world of disabilitiy. (INSERT STATISTIC SHOWING % OF FAMILIES AFFECTED BY DISABILITIES. AND PERHAPS ONE SHOWING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HOPE.)
Our final CAMP ONE session of 2025 will take place November 6-8 at Children’s Harbor.
This CAMP ONE session will take place October 3-5th at the Children’s Harbor Camps on Lake Martin.
A CAMP TWO session is for families who have completed CAMP ONE. ***This registration is by invite only.***
This CAMP ONE session will take place February 27-March 2nd at the Children’s Harbor campus on Lake Martin.
